Keep Your Skin Healthy With A Daily Routine

Published by LJ at 6:43 pm under Be Fitspired Edit This

I didn’t post yesterday because I went to the Department of Consumer Affairs of Barbering and Cosmetology to take my Aesthetics State Board Exam. After eight long months of tears (lots), blood (maybe a little), and sweat (or was it sebum?), I finally took the exam and am now a State of California Licensed Esthetician Smile

I’ve rambled on here a bit about the importance of wearing sunscreen, but now let’s talk about YOUR daily routine. What does your daily skin care routine consist of? In school, I’ve learned to follow a correct skin care regimen to keep my skin healthy and glowing. Take a look…

MORNING
1. Cleanse - I like to use the Aveeno Foaming Face Cleanser - A foaming cleanser is very gentle, especially for skin that is just waking up. My skin tends to be a little sensitive, so this foaming cleaner is great for it.
2. Tone - I use the Clean and Clear Astringent for Sensitive Skin - Until I went to school, I never realized how important a toner is. When you use a cleanser, or put any other type of chemical on your face, it changes the skin’s original PH of 4.5-5.5 to something with more alkaline. A toner basically brings the skin back to it’s natural PH, which is on the more acidic side of the PH scale. Without a toner, your skin may  feel tight and dry, which isn’t good. Our goal is to keep that skin moist and glowing.
3. Moisturize - I love the Aveeno Photosensitive Moisturizer with SPF 20 - I can’t stress again how important sunscreen is. So, find a moisturizer with SPF that works for you!

NIGHT
My night routine varies according to the day, but here goes…
1. Make-up Remover - I use the Dermalogica Make-up Remover - This make-up remover is awesome! It’s  a highly concentrated formula and can only be purchased from a skin care professional, such as as an Aesthetician (like myself!), Dermatologist, or even at a skin care speciality store. This specific brand cannot be purchased at a Walgreens or CVS, which makes the product even more awesome.
2. Cleanse - Again, I use the Aveeno Foaming Face Cleanser - It’s just so gentle and it feels great.
3. Exfoliate - I use Freeman’s Goji Berry Exfoliant - It’s great to exfoliate your skin once or twice a week. Any more than that can irritate your skin and cause break-outs. Exfoliating sloughs off the dead skin on the corneum layer (epidermis), making way cells to produce healthy new skin.
4. Mask - I love Freeman’s Goji Berry Purifying Mask - This mask not only smells great, but it does wonders! t’s a clay mask that draws out the impurities and excess sebum. Too much of a good thing will have contraindications for your skin, therefore, I only do the mask once a week.
5. Toner - Again, Clean and Clear Astringent for Sensitive Skin - When used after the mask, it also removes the leftover stuff that the water didn’t rinse away, and it also restores your skin to it’s natural PH of 4.5-5.5.

6. Moisturizers - I like to use the Beauty Without Cruelty Eye Gel
- Just a few dabs under and around the eyes and you can say bye bye to those fine lines. I also use the Loreal Collagen Filler on more forehead, a bit around the eyes, and around the mouth. Those areas are crucial to care for since they are the most likely place where you will see signs of aging. Lastly, I use the Freeman’s Goji Berry Moisturizer all over my face to moisturize. This will ensure beautiful skin after a good night’s sleep.

So, that’s my routines…What are yours? What products do you use?
